Color! I don’t think it’s a big secret that I love color, but I’m also fascinated by the psychology of how they affect our moods, focus, blood pressure, and even appetite. First, for this experiment, I’m considering black and white to be colors, this is not technically true.

Colors are powerful symbols. They represent our favorite sports teams, schools, flags, traditions, and holidays. St. Patrick’s Day would not be the same without the lush greens; Halloween would be different if everything was soft and bright pastels. Color can be controversial such as with Pantone’s 2026 Color of the Year. (Read about all of their choices here: https://www.pantone.com/articles/color-of-the-year)

For today’s experiment, take a look around you. What colors do you like, which do you dislike? Note any emotional response or memories triggered.

As a bonus, observe a few times during the day. If you’re in the same spot does the quality of color change as the sun shifts or sets? For example, I used to have room painted a color that would look everything from light tan in daylight to a dusky purple-brown at night. Do you appreciate some colors more in the morning than at night?

Even if you do not Bullet Journal, I encourage you to write down your reflections. Physically writing on paper encourages deeper thought and longer memory retention. Slowing down is the feature.
