26 Days of Mindfulness

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is being aware of our thoughts, body, and surroundings without judgement. It’s called a practice because it is something we can never perfect, but always improve. Throughout the day our minds wander, we zone out, and we over-react at times. This is normal and human! The practice means we can begin again, gently, without criticizing ourselves.

There is also mindfulness meditation, where specific meditation practices help strengthen our focus. But not all meditation has a mindful focus, and not all mindfulness requires meditation.

Benefits of mindfulness

Studies show that regular practice of mindfulness and mindful meditation leads to better mental health, physical health, mood regulation, and focus.

C is for Color

Color! I don't think it's a big secret that I love color, but I'm also fascinated by the psychology of how they affect our moods, focus, blood pressure, and even appetite. First, for this experiment, I'm considering black and white to be colors, this is not...

B is for Breathe

B is for Breathe

In meditation, our breath is an anchor. When our minds wander, we come back to the breath to refocus. Whether you are new or experienced with meditation, try these simple techniques and just breathe. This is tricky at first, but notice your breath without changing it....
